Westlake Village is a thriving multi-cultural community of nearly 20 000 residents that live in a combination of low-cost houses and informal structures near Tokai in Cape Town. Since its inception in 2001, Westlake United Church Trust (WUCT) has lived alongside the Community responding to their needs by providing education, healthcare and social and information services. We serve everybody in our Community regardless of race, beliefs, origins, status and age.
Health & Wellness
Mother & Baby Support Group
Pre- and Post-Natal classes are run onsite by our resident Nurse and Community Health Worker.
Senior & Elderly
A medical professional conducts screenings and tests for blood pressure, sugar level, weight management and foot care.
Emmanuel Educare
Pre-School
This Early Childhood Development Centre caters for ages 3 - 6.
180 children are accommodated in 6 classrooms with a teacher and an assistant dedicated to developing and stimulating these young minds.
Our kitchen provides two nutritional meals five days a week.
Childcare & Protection Programme
Every day 35 children aged 8-18 receive counselling and a nutritional meal.
Our Community Worker and Youth Programmes focus on the development of leadership, arts and culture, sport, as well as music and dance.
These initiatives help promote and increase school attendance.
Computer Room & Online Education
Access to the computer room offering unlimited broadband internet and wifi makes a big difference to the lives of both learners and adults.
Education programmes run include:
Job Journey - a work readiness program for school leavers.
PeterBridge College reaching youth unable to get into nearby high schools.
Advice Office General Services
The Advice Office helps with a variety of
services including:
Accessing Government programmes
such as SASSA Grants, EPWP, etc.
Reporting of municipal matters.
Drawing up CV’s for job seekers.
Online applications for Grade 1 and 8.
Partnerships
Hands of Hope – a skills development project – rents space in our sewing centre.
Xchange Connexion helps clean up and green up our community. They exchange collected recyclable materials for food.
Hill Toppers, an elderly social group, hosts regular gatherings in the hall.
